Anton Diabelli (born September 5, 1781 in Mattsee near Salzburg; died April 8, 1858 in Vienna) was an Austrian composer and music publisher. Diabelli learned to play the piano and organ at a very early age. Many of his practice pieces and school pieces for two and four hands have been preserved and are still frequently used in piano lessons today. In 1807, Giuliani came to Vienna and the two got to know each other. This sparked Diabelli’s interest in the guitar and he began to compose several works for it. There are not many in total, but they all have their own Diabelli style.
