Joan Antoni Hava i Ferré, stage name Antonio Alba (born in Reus, December 7, 1873 – died in Santiago de Chile, 1940), was a Catalan guitarist, music teacher, and composer who settled in Chile.
He studied solfeggio, singing, and piano in Reus with Josep Maria Ballvé. Later, he learned to play the guitar—which would become his favorite instrument—as well as the bandurria, mandolin, harp, and organ. In 1890, at the age of 17, he emigrated to South America and settled five years later in Valparaíso, where he worked as a music teacher and director of the choir of the Sociedad de Beneficiencia de Valparaíso. In 1903, he undertook a study trip to Europe to visit the conservatories of Barcelona, Paris, Madrid, London, Naples, and Milan. He later moved to Santiago de Chile and taught guitar in the Chilean capital. His student Liliana Pérez Corey became one of the most important teachers for guitarists in the country and creator of the chair for guitar at the Faculty of Philosophy of the University of Chile.
