A musician who, in addition to a wider range of instrumental and vocal music, left behind a small number of lute solos. His most popular lute solo appears to have been the Sharp Pavan (possibly as a response to Johnson’s Flat Pavan), which exists in several versions. As with many pieces from manuscript sources, it is unclear which of these are by Allison himself.
